Dan Zlotnick:
Dan Zlotnick of Westchester County, NY brings a wide range of influence to his heartfelt Americana style. Listeners of all ages love watching Dan pick and strum his vintage acoustic guitar as he tells stories with his rich voice and thoughtful lyrics. He is a student of the guitar-playing of Jimmy Page and Stevie Ray Vaughan, the lyric-writing of John Prine and The Avett Brothers, and the tireless performing of Bruce Springsteen. In his young career, Dan has supported his two full-length albums, two EPs, and several singles with over 150 performances per year. He has rocked the stages of the Paramount Hudson Valley, Pleasantville Music Festival, Tarrytown Music Hall, and Garcia’s at The Capitol Theatre. Dan has also opened shows for Grammy winner Marc Cohn, guitar legend Arlen Roth, Top-40 Country Artist Jessica Lynn, and Americana's favorite father, Jim Avett. No matter the venue, audience members leave Dan’s shows feeling like they have a new friend. For more information, visit www.DanZlotnick.com.
Swahoogie:
A night of Swahoogie music has been described alternately as “a hot molten mess of loud greezy musical love and happiness” and a place where “meat eaters and vegans join hands in harmony.” The New York based band, which has been performing locally since the early 1990s, is ecstatic to be returning to the stage at Garcias at the Capitol Theatre for the first time in two years.
Swahoogie performed on the main stage at the 2019 Pleasantville Music Festival, opening for Aimee Mann, Soul Asylum and Everclear. The band has also been featured as a spotlight local artist numerous times on 107.1 The Peak in “New York’s backyard,” and performed in studio with legendary NY DJ Jimmy Fink on his After Six program.
Swahoogie’s 2021 release The Lonely Ones continues the story the band has been telling for more than 25 years. “Disco Sal, Gimme a Chance and Leaving all feel like extensions of Scratchy Dog, Last Chance Guadalajara, or Lamar. Good to Me and Handle Me could connect with Where I Belong. It’s really all just one song broken up into bite size pieces across the years,” says Swahoogie songwriter Thomas “Zeke” Krouskoff. “Hopefully we have recorded some music that will be perfect for the car ride mixed in with Swahoogie favorites.”
The current Swahoogie lineup features Bruce Demaree, Larry Gardner, Tom Havard, Bill Lawrence, Thomas “Zeke” Krouskoff, Scott Kubrin, Terry Singletary and Nancy Toder
