Feel it in your soul music comes to The Capitol Theatre on Thursday, February 11 as The Wailers combine good vibes with the sounds of Jamaica, filling the air with messages of hope, positivity, and love. The Wailers pioneered roots rock reggae, and together with Bob Marley, sold in excess of 250 million albums worldwide. Their music is the soundtrack to the lives of an entire generation, and generations to come will hear their story. In the early years of The Wailers, the band was known variously as the Teenagers, the Wailing Rudeboys, and the Wailing Wailers, before finally landing on The Wailers.

2. All you got to do, give a little

In 1963, Bob Marley and childhood friend Bunny Wailer began attending vocal lessons held by a Trench Town resident named Joe Higgs. In his Trench Town yard, Higgs introduced Marley and Bunny to Peter Tosh. Bob Marley & The Wailers were born.

3. Lively up yourself

In 1979, The Wailers became the first reggae band to play at the famous Apollo Theatre in New York City. The shows ran for four-days straight, with the band playing two shows each night with exception of the last night.

4. Make way for the positive day

The I Three, also known as "I Threes," were a Jamaican female reggae singing group that formed in 1974 to support Bob Marley & The Wailers, after Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer left the band. One of the three was Bob Marley' wife, Rita Marley.

5. Buffalo soldier, dreadlock rasta

In 2010, Bob Marley & The Wailers' album “Catch a Fire” was added to the GRAMMY Hall of Fame. The album was released on April 13, 1973, and is the fifth album by the band.
