Event Details
"Home for the Holidays" Celebrating Jerry Garcia
Opening the year at the Warfield Theatre, one of Jerry’s musical “homes”, was such a momentous experience we couldn’t resist the opportunity to celebrate Jerry once more in another of his favorite haunts. On December 13th & 14th, Jerry’s songbook will once again fill the hallowed halls of the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY for Home For The Holidays: Celebrating Jerry Garcia. We’re delighted to have Melvin Seals, Oteil Burbridge, Tom Hamilton, Duane Trucks, Jacklyn LaBranch and Lady Chi joining once again to help us bring the community together, spread a little holiday cheer and celebrate Jerry in what would have been his 77th year. Garcia’s affinity for the Capitol Theatre was made known during a November 1970 interview telling a reporter, "See, there’s only two theaters, man… that are set up pretty groovy all around for music and for smooth stage changes, good lighting and all that – the Fillmore and The Capitol Theatre. And those are the only two in the whole country.” Jerry's connection to the Capitol Theatre has continued in recent years with Garcia’s, the venue’s lobby bar, which was named in his honor and enlivened with the family’s memorabilia, artwork and photographs. We’re excited to return to this sacred space and make a little more magic with you all.

Port Chester Legends Recorded Every Grateful Dead Show at The Cap
While working at The Capitol Theatre in our 1970s heyday, Ken and Judy Lee preserved history. The live Grateful Dead shows that they recorded have been freely shared and circulated for decades, and thanks to them, we have been able to explore and experience our past. We are forever grateful for their dedication. In honor of the Grateful Dead's November run at The Cap in 1970, we welcome you to learn more about Ken and Judy Lee. -
