A crowd of all ages were delighted by Michael Franti & Spearhead's energetic and engaging performance at the Capitol Theatre on Friday, Nov. 15.

Franti and the band played many songs from their 2013 release All People and 2010 release Sound of Sunshine, opening with "Hey Hey Hey." They encored with "I'm Alive," "Wherever You Are," and "Say Hey."

Franti moved throughout the sold-out crowd on the floor and mezzanine seats the entire concert, encouraging fans with messages of positivity and love. He also got the hundreds of fans to participate in the show by singing back to him, jumping up to the beat, and waving their hands in the air.

During "Sound of Sunshine," dozens of huge yellow balloons were released into the crowd, thrilling the children and adults in the audience.

About halfway through the show, Franti invited three couples on stage to celebrate their love and thanked his wife, Tara Franti-Rye, an emergency room nurse, for all her support. He also promoted Tara's Do It For the Love Foundation, an organization she founded to bring people facing life-threatening illnesses, children with severe challenges, and wounded veterans to live concerts.

After an audience member yelled out that she is also an ER nurse, he brought her and a friend on stage to join the band and the couples as well. Later in the show, Franti invited children from the audience to dance on stage.

Serena Ryder, the singer/song-writer who opened for Franti, joined him on stage at the end of the show for "Let It Go."
