In just two years after graduating from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, Talay has already begun making waves on the New York music scene. Sought after as a session player on guitar, bass, and backing vocals, she has toured both locally and nationally, supporting numerous New York based artists as well as the all female Guns N’ Roses tribute act, Guns N’ Hoses. This session work helped finance her debut EP Piece by Piece, which has been called “a return to meaningful, introspective songwriting...with memorable melody lines, tight harmonies, and passionate, powerful vocals” by radio host Bruce Figler at New York’s 107.1 The Peak.

Talay is currently gearing up for her next release of punchy power-pop that draws comparisons to 90's favorites like No Doubt, Blink 182, and Weezer. Her songs engage audiences with lyrics that are equally clever, emotionally vulnerable, and even biting at times. Talay has also won praise for her lead guitar work, stretching out into wah-inflected, blues-influenced solos over the band’s tight rhythm section.

The Upset is a collection of original songs by singer/songwriter Emily Angell. Known for her “appealing voice and smart songwriting” (Women of Substance Radio), Emily combines alternative rock and folk influences with her love of top 40. Her musicianship derives from a childhood spent listening to everything from her mom's cassette tapes of Amy Grant and Sandi Patty, to her dad's Beatles and Jethro Tull records; subsequently, her style has both evolved from these diverse roots and become infused with a grit and soul that are hers alone. Each tune on the EP is acoustic, and the overall vibe has been described by many as emotionally raw and absolutely ear-catching. Emily’s music is inspired by love, tragedy, politics, and heartbreak – but above all, the understanding that someone, somewhere, has got to be experiencing the same convictions.

Originally hailing from a small town outside of Binghamton, New York, Emily is the daughter of a public school music teacher and an electrical engineer. With respect to these roots, she came to New York in 2004 to study music and recording at the City College of New York’s Sonic Arts Center. Emily now stands out as one of the new breed of women singer-songwriters who also know their way around a recording studio as mix engineer, mastering engineer, and producer. Co-writes include “Can You Handle This?” with DJ Disciple on Catch 22 Records, and “Let It Shine” with Serchlight recording artist Sneakas for the 2009 Maccabi games in Israel. Emily has also been very involved with Songs of Love, a non-profit organization dedicated to writing and recording songs for terminally ill children. She currently lives in New York City with her sister.
