We all think it, but Amy Schumer says it. The name of her “Back Door Tour” speaks for itself, but isn’t that the point of comedy? Her words bring to life what we are all thinking but are reluctant to admit. Her demure appearance and charm activates the crowd in a comfortable way with her fearless words. There is an eager air in the room for what will unexpectedly come out of her mouth next, and this anticipatory feeling combined with laughter from her preceding remarks leaves the audience engaged.

With appearances on The Howard Stern Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Conan, just to name a few, she certainly has acquired quite the following which was apparent in the variety of people that came out to see her performance at the Capitol Theatre. She is blowing up the world of comedy, especially with the debut of her very own show on Comedy Central. With references to Jim Norton and other acclaimed comedians, Amy made her presence know to our “town to disappear to” as she put it, with reference to the “cool theatre with awesome history” – The Capitol.

Food, money and especially sex were the themes of the night that were easily turned into witty social satire. This charming array of comedy was undoubtedly not an act to miss. With the simple display of a stool and a bottle of wine, Amy’s presence permeated the theatre and I found my face hurting from laughter even after I left the show. Fans were not disappointed in the least and inhibition was not a feeling that resonated after the show.
